What Build-up's format?

We focus on making Build-ups that include tech talks from speakers and QnA sessions willing to share their experiences.

How exactly it works?

We will have two tech talks, which is a more classical way to share the info, followed by QAs sessions.

In the AMA (Ask Me Anything) and BYOP (Bring Your Own Problem) format, you will be able to learn answers and practical advice that will be relevant directly to you and your cases.

Enjoy free access, hear from cloud leaders and be the first to learn what's new. Get inspired to build!

Speakers

Petro Karashchenko

Software Engineer at SQUAD

More than 12 years in Embedded. He has been in various career roles: both engineering and management. Main expertise: building reliable engineering solutions for embedded systems. In addition to work, Petro studies at the Kyiv Gestalt University, is a member of the Apache Software Foundation and raises two children.

Maksym Prymierov

Embedded Engineer at Intellias

Strong Middle Embedded Engineer at Intellias. He is an embedded engineer, has 4 years of experience in Automotive projects, worked with Android multimedia devices for cars. Also worked with the QNX operating system. Maksym Has half a year of experience in the development of golf devices, tablets in golf carts, smart carts for sports equipment, communication modules. Worked a lot with the Linux kernel.

Viktor Leniviy

Field Application Engineer at Thundercomm

Viktor works with such domains as network hardware, consumer electronics, IoT, automotive, infotainment. Started with small MCUs and main loop, gradually transitioned to heavy multimedia SOMs with Android. He can find ways to solve problems in BSP even if docs are not available.Besides that, Viktor spent a long time learning how product economics works outside the “technical part”. This experience is a long story to tell :) He made several attempts to start up a new venture.

Agenda

19:00 - 19:50

Designing Software for an Embedded Device

Petro Karashchenko

Software Engineer at SQUAD

Ever seen a security-related issue that you felt should be reported? Unsure of how reporting security issue is different than a regular bug?

Let's talk about how to analyze the complexity of an embedded system and choose the optimal base for implementing a software solution. We will answer the question: is the use of RTOS and multithreading necessary in the modern realities of Embedded and IoT products?

19:50 - 20:30

Linux for Embedded devices: how to debug your own drivers?

Maksym Prymierov

Strong Middle Embedded Engineer at Intellias

Nowadays, Embedded devices are not only simple controllers that have simple firmware and perform one specific task.

Nowadays, Embedded devices are not only simple controllers that have simple firmware and perform one specific task. These are also complex systems that perform time-consuming tasks (For example: car control systems, multimedia devices, etc.). Such controllers can use full-fledged operating systems, such as Linux, QNX, depending on the main task of the device.

In this topic, we will talk about the Linux operating system, its debug system. You will learn how to debug native Linux kernel drivers (modules), from outputting messages from the Kernel, to outputting full traces functions, and connecting GDB. Let's consider in which situations it is better to use certain debugging methods.

Let's consider what Kernel Panic is, how it appears and how to read its output. This knowledge will help you in developing Linux drivers for your devices.
